Fall In Northern Westchester County NY
Well the calendar tells us it's now officially fall but the thermometer this week seems to say it's still summer.
The calendar wins on this one and all the fall activities are in full swing. There have been end of Summer Sidewalk Sale Days 2 weeks ago in Mt. Kisco, many high schools in northern Westchester are having their homecoming footbal game this weekend, schools are back in session with car washes and wrapping paper fund raisers and the Big Yellow buses can be seen everywhere.
Other traditional northern Westchester fall activities coming up in the next few weeks are apple picking at Salingers or Outhouse Orchards in North Salem, pumpkin picking at the Muscoot Farm pumpkin patch in Somers and for traditional activities leading up to Halloween, where else but Sleepy Hollow would you go to learn about Washington Irving, Ickabod Crane and the legend of Sleepy Hollow. Phillipsburg Manor along with other Historic Hudson Museums in the Tarrytown-Sleeping Hollow areas have special family activities during the month of October.
We also can't forget the traditional nature tours as the foliage changes which will be a magnificent site site over the next 3 weeks. Also be sure to check with your local town recreations departments as many have Halloween parades the last weekend of October, hayrides, there own pumpkin patch, and even haunted trails set up like the one in Leonard Park Mount Kisco the weekend before Halloween. It's fun but it can be scary for children and adults alike.
