Holiday Tree Lighting Friday 11/30 In Mount Kisco
Tis the season has begun as Mount Kisco had its annual tree lighting ceremony tonight with carols followed by hot chocolate and cookies in the Town Hall. This annual tradition is repeated in many town throughout northern Westchester County and is the official start of the holiday season. As you drive around admiring the town decorations on lamp posts, store windows with the holiday displays and homes decked out in lights, it tends to lift our spirits and for atleast the next 25 days, there will be acts of courtesy and kindness to neighbors and strangers alike.
This time of year though we will also hear stories of sadness and hard times that have befallen others in our northern Westchester communities so be generous and open your heart to others.
Both The Journal News and Channel 12 have done stories but not enough, to alert northern Westcheseter residents that the northern Westchester food pantries are very low and in need of food or money contributions. The Katonah Community Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester in Mt. Kisco are two possible places to bring food donations.
